SARDIP-Kenya Susatainable Agriculture and Rural Development Initiative Programe-Kenya is a Community Based Organization(CBO) started by the United Methodist Church in Moheto Kenya to empower the local communities towards self sustainability..
Its main objective is to improve the quality of life of the community through programs which focuses on Agriculture and natural resource management, Education, Health and Nutrition, Water sanitation and environment, and Small Economic Activity Development (SEAD).

To facilitate rural communities to realize sustainable development through bottom up approaches in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
OUR GOAL.
Establishment of self sustaining communities in food security and social economic development.
In this programe Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Initiative Program-Kenya, The United Methodist Church in Moheto in kenya is involve in the following programmes.
1. AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT.
SARDIP-Kenya helps families produce more food and increase their income while managing their natural resources and preserving the environment for future generations.
SARDIP-Kenya works with farmers to increase their crop and livestock yield through activities such as planting new seed varieties, animal husbandry, home gardening, irrigation, agro forestry and provide technical advisory services to the farmers in the community.
SARDIP-Kenya is involved in the growing of chilly and Mushroom in Kuria and Migori District as a mean to increase the family income
SARDIP-Kenya works with Youth groups and Women groups to promote tree planting programe.
2.NUTRITION AND HEALTH.
Proper nutrition is vital to a child's healthy development and care for his or her family. The project focus on techniques and practices that help prevent malnutrition. These include demonstrating proper breast feeding; educating families and communities about how to cultivate and prepare nutritious food; providing food as part of emergency relief efforts and managing food-for-work project to hel[p communities improve infrastructure.
The SARDIP-Kenya health unit focus on mother child care who often are the most vulnerable to disease and malnutrition. We are particularly interested in increasing the capacity of local partners especially the Ministry of Health (MoH) by participating in training the community based health volunteers and councelors, mentors and monitors of community health. The project encourages the local communities to register with the National Hospital Insuraence Funds (NHIF) to benefit from the services rendered by the organization.
SARDIP-Kenya through this unit engages youth in free counceling programmes to educate them on behaviour change and HIV/AIDS.
The Moheto First United Methodist Church is contruscting a health centre in Moheto to provide health services to the community.
WATER SANITATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH.
SARDIP-Kenya through this unit help communities build and maintain clean water systems and latrines both directly and through participation with other organization. We provide training and subsidize construction of the pit latrines and water wells but community makes significant contribution in labour and the cost for operation and meintenance.
The goal of this unit is to reduce the health risks of water related diseases and increase the earning potential of household by saving time otherwise spent in gathering water.
We also educates the communities about good hygiene habits to reduce the risks of illnesses which are water born.
3. SMALL ECONOMIC ACTIVITIY DEVELOPMENT (SEAD).
The Small Economic Activity Development (SEAD) unit assists impoverished families by supporting money making activities, especially those operated by women and youths. Through SEAD, SARDIP-Kenya initiates community savings and loan programs and provide technical training to help people begin or expand small business that will increase family income.
